Visit to Hubei, Education, Expo and EU
Govenor Gunn Marit Helgesen, focussed on education cooperation at her visit to Hubei in April:
From Norway she had representatives from Telemark University College, Pro-rector Knut Duesund with Anne Marie and Haaseth
Eidbjørg Hansson from pre-school education and Porsgrunn secondary school principal Leila Lerum with Vice principal Tom Holmberg and Inger Andersen Kise
Meeting between Govenors
In a meeting with Governor Li Hong Zhong, where Director General, Chen Anli of Education, You Jiangguo of Culture, and Wang Yuan Yuan of Provincial foregihn affairs also were present from the Chinese side, it was emphasized the importance of internationalization of education at all levels.

Governor Li stressed that for Hubei Province the Expo cooperation was very important and unique. They warmly welcomed all Norwegians. Govenor Gunn Marit Helgesen also had separate meetings with the Director General of Education and Culture to complete an EU project Telemark applies with Hubei.
At "Shui Guo Hu" secondary school which has an agreement with Porsgrunn secondary school,
Govenor Gunn Marit Helgesen was deaply moved by being appointed to Guest principal. In her speach she said that
"Internationalisation of education can not be understood without a cross-cultural component "diversity".
It is not just a question of having more foreign students or to have more international
faculty. It will help, but it will not be enough. It is a matter of understanding and acceptance
each other, and that is where education comes in with dialogue and tolerance.
Tolerance is not created by themselves,but one must be conscious and work hard to achieve this goal "

The Govenor was also invited to the car producer Dongfeng Moto Ltd, where she was introduced to
environmentally friendly cars and buses.
The company is now the third largest car producer in China and also manufactures cars under license for several foreign companies.
To give the Govenor more Knowlege of Hubei, she was invited to enshi, a hidden pearl for the outside world. Here she got to experience China's Grand Canyon, with spectacular rock formations in different colors and minoreties settings.
She had real mountain hike lasting 3,5 hours up and down with very exclusive scenary and large height differences.
